Creating organisations and contacts inline on an opportunity

When you're building a new opportunity, you can create a new organisation or contact without navigating away from the page. The Organisation and Contact fields in the Opportunity Summary section let you search for an existing record or add a new one on the spot — and immediately capture key details before moving on.

Creating a new organisation

  1. Click the Organisation field in the Opportunity Summary section.
  2. Type the organisation's name. If it doesn't appear in the list, a + Add "..." option appears at the bottom of the dropdown.
  3. Click + Add "..." to create the organisation. The combobox closes and the new name is shown in the field.
  4. A small details panel appears beneath the field. Enter the organisation's Phone and Email if you have them — each field saves automatically when you move focus out of it (no save button needed).

If you don't have those details yet, leave the panel empty and move on. You can fill them in later from the Organisations list page.

Creating a new contact

  1. Select or create the organisation first — contacts are linked to their organisation.
  2. Click the Contact field.
  3. Type the contact's name (first and last, or just first). If they're not in the list, click + Add "...".
  4. A details panel appears beneath the field. Enter the contact's Email, Phone, and Position if you have them — each field saves automatically on blur.

Notes

  • The panel appears only on creation. If you return to the opportunity later or select an existing record, the details panel won't appear. Use the Organisations or Contacts list pages to edit those fields after the fact.
  • The contract-org picker doesn't show the panel. You can still add a new organisation using the Organisation field in the Contract section (further down the page), but the extra-details panel won't appear there. If you create one that way, fill in its phone and email from the Organisations list page afterwards.
  • Partial details are fine. Save what you have and fill in the rest later. Leaving fields blank in the panel doesn't affect the opportunity.
